On Raising a Highly Sensitive Child with Xiomara Gallego Bernard
I usually share my key takeaways at this point in the post, but you’ll most likely have a better experience watching and listening to the episode.
As the award-winning author of Tomás Returns to School, Xiomara Gallego-Bernard is launching her second children’s book in the series on August 8, 2025.

About Xiomara Gallego-Bernard
Xiomara Gallego-Bernard is a published author born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, where she spent her formative years. Enduring open heart surgery at just one year old due to a congenital heart condition shaped her perspective on life, instilling in her a deep appreciation for every moment and a commitment to purpose-driven living.
The inspiration behind her award-winning children’s book, Tomás Returns to School, stems from Xiomara’s journey supporting her Highly Sensitive child. She began writing it after recognizing a gap in the literature addressing coping mechanisms for kids facing situational triggers.
Xiomara discovered her sensitivity during this creative process, reflecting on childhood experiences where such strategies would have been invaluable.
Her writing serves as a conduit for sharing practical knowledge with others, acquired through lived experiences. She envisions her stories as effective means to promote a love for reading and nurture values of acceptance, empathy, and kindness.
